Experiencing St. James

The Christian fellowship central to the life of the Chapel began about 1950. Led in early years by James A. Pike, then Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the congregation committed to erecting our unique building, designed by architect Olav Hammarstrom, a leader in the “Cape Cod Modern” school. In the years since, the thriving congregation has adhered to simple, participatory worship, with an emphasis on caring for our surroundings and the people who work and live on the Cape year-round.
