Happy Easter! I hope you had a wonderful holiday filled with hope and joy. As I spent my Easter morning watching some local fishermen in Luquillo, Puerto Rico cast their nets into the sea, I gave thanks for our patron Saint James the Fisherman and all those who fish around the world. I look forward to my tenth summer as pastor and priest here. With a great line-up of guest preachers, speakers, and performers, we will heed the wisdom of the Psalmist and make a joyful noise unto God.

Easter has arrived, and it feels like spring might be in the air. I pray that mother nature does not send another blizzard or Nor’easter to the already bruised and battered shores of Outer Cape Cod.

The respite of summer is past; another long winter is looming. Still, we look back on the summer of 2021 with some fond memories.

When we wrote to you last spring, we were in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s hard to believe that only a few months ago, we were enjoying gentle breezes, lazy beach days, and Sunday worship at the Chapel.

Despite the crazy spring weather, summer feels like it’s just around the corner.

Easter has arrived, Christ is risen, and finally, it feels like spring might be in the air.

Since 1956, the Chapel of St. James the Fisherman has stood in the pine grove above Route 6 in Wellfleet, offering spiritual refreshment and gracious hospitality to residents and visitors alike.

It’s hard to believe that only a few weeks ago, we were enjoying each other’s company in our beautiful summer chapel.

Last night, an early spring storm of snow and sleet, hail and rain, and wind-lots of wind-blew in form the north.
